Hi, fellow precut fabric lovers! I am obsessed with storage bins. That's kinda what happens when you have too much stuff! I'm always looking for cute little containers to corral the bits and pieces in my sewing room. So today I have an amazingly easy tutorial for you to make an itty bitty fabric bin.

8cb62-title_ingredients
2 layer cake squares (one each for outer fabric and lining fabric)
1 piece of interfacing measuring 12" x 11"
1 piece of batting measuring 12" x 11"
spray baste or pins
coordinating thread

1. Trim the outer layer cake square to 10" x 8½". Fold layer cake in half along the 10" length. Cut a 2" square from each of the two bottom folded corners. {NOTE: It's more accurate to mark the cutting lines and cut with scissors instead of the rotary cutter.} Repeat for the lining layer cake square.

2. Place the outer layer cake square right side up on the batting and interfacing. Secure in place with pins or spray baste. Quilt as desired. Trim the excess batting and interfacing from the outer fabric.

3. Fold outer fabric/interfacing/batting piece in half along the length, right sides together. Sew a ¼" seam on each side, backstitching at the beginning and end. Use a true ¼" seam, not a scant ¼" seam.

4. Pull open the notch on one side to create the box shape. Secure with a Wonder clip and sew a ¼" seam along the length, again backstitching at beginning and end of seam. Repeat for the other notched corner.

5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the lining fabric.

6. Turn outer fabric right side out. Place the outer fabric box inside of the lining fabric box, right sides together. Pin or clip along the top edge. Sew along the top edge, leaving a 3" opening to turn the boxes right sides out.

7. Turn boxes right sides out by gently pulling the lining fabric through the opening. Press the seam and fold under the raw edges of the opening.

8. Top stitch along the top of the box, closing the opening as you go.

One itty bitty fabric bin! The base measures about 4" x 3½" and it is 3" tall with the cuff folded down. It's the perfect size for holding Moda Candy!
