INGREDIENTS
FROM FABRIC A, CUT:
* (2) 3⅞” squares, cut each square on one diagonal yielding 4 triangles
FROM FABRIC B, CUT:
* (2) 3⅞” squares, cut each square on one diagonal yielding 4 triangles
* (4) 2” squares
* (4) 2” x 3½” rectangles
FROM FABRIC C, CUT:
* (8) 2” x 3½” rectangles
FROM FABRIC D, CUT:
* (4) 3½” squares
FROM FABRIC E, CUT:
* (1) 3½” square
* (8) 2” squares
INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1. MAKE HALF SQUARE TRIANGLES
Using 1 Fabric A and 1 Fabric B triangle, make 1 half square triangle (HST). The HST should measure 3½” square, including seam allowance. Repeat these steps to make a total of 4 HSTs.
STEP 2. MAKE FLYING GEESE
Using (2) 2” squares of Fabric E and (1) 2” x 3½” piece of Fabric A, make 1 stitch and flip flying geese unit. This flying geese unit should measure 2” x 3½”, including seam allowance. Repeat these steps to make a total of 4 flying geese.
STEP 3. MAKE 3 PATCH
Using (2) 2” x 3½” rectangles of Fabric C and (1) 3½” square of Fabric D, sew the pieces together as shown. This unit should measure 3½” x 6½”, including seam allowance. Repeat these steps to make a total of 4 units.
STEP 4. ASSEMBLE STAR
Using the pieces made in step 2, the (4) 2” squares of Fabric B, and (1) 3½” square of Fabric E, make 1 star block, as shown. Each block should measure 6½” square, including the seam allowances.
ASSEMBLE THE BLOCK
Join block units as shown. Trim block to 12½” unfinished size.
