From fabric 1, cut:
[A] (2) 3½” squares (aqua in example)
From fabric 2, cut:
[A] (1) 3½” square (red as shown)
From fabric 3, cut:
[A] (1) 3½” square (white as shown)

6” BLOCK

From fabric 1, cut:
[A] (2) 4½” squares (aqua in example)
From fabric 2, cut:
[A] (1) 4½” square (red as shown)
From fabric 3, cut:
[A] (1) 4½” square (white as shown)

12” BLOCK

From fabric 1, cut:
[A] (2) 7½” squares (aqua in example)
From fabric 2, cut:
[A] (1) 7½” square (red as shown)
From fabric 3, cut:
[A] (1) 7½” square (white as shown)

STEP 1. MAKE QUARTER SQUARE TRIANGLES

Start by making half square triangles: Draw a pencil line along the diagonal of the wrong side of each Fabric 3 square. Match with a Fabric 2 square. Sew ¼” away from each side of the marked line. Cut apart on the line and press. Repeat with each set.

To make quarter square triangles: Draw a diagonal pencil line on the wong side of each Fabric 1/3 HST unit. Nest seams with Fabric 1/2 HSTs. Sew ¼” away from each side of the marked line. Cut apart on the marked line. Repeat to make  4 sets.

STEP 2. COMPLETE BLOCK

Join QST units as shown to make the block.
