This block uses a 60° ruler. Templates are provided in the Printer Friendly Version for an alternate construction method if you do not have this ruler.

YIELD

6" finished block (6 1/2" unfinished)

INGREDIENTS

From Ruby Ice (9900 169), cut:
{A} 1 – 4” x 8”, Cut in half corner- to- corner once (if your fabric is not reversible cut 2-4’ X 8” rectangles, cut the 2nd opposite corners of the 1st cut)
{B} 1 – 2” X 6 ½”

From Bubble Gum (9900 88), cut:
{C} 1 – 2” X 4”

From Scarlet (9900 47), cut:
{D} 3 – 60° triangle with a 3 ¼” base

From Snow (9900 11), cut:
{E} 1 – 1 ½” X 2 ½” (tip of hat)
{F} 1 – 3 ½” base 60° triangle

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Stitch the pink fabric to the base of the white 60° triangle, 1” from the tip. Press to the pink, trim to size of triangle, trim fabric behind pink fabric leaving ¼”.

2. Stitch the 1 ½” X 2” square to the tip of one red 60° triangle, ¾” from the tip. Press & trim as in step one.

3. Layout the triangle as in the picture & stitch.

4. Stitch the half rectangles of background fabric to the Santa center. Press. Center the tip of Santa’s hat on the 3 ¼” line, leaving ¼” seam allowance at all 3 corners of the triangles, trim to 6 ½” X 5 ¾”.

5. Stitch the 2” X 6 ½” rectangle to the bottom of the Santa & press.

6. Square block to 6 ½” X 6 ½”.
