Infinite Variety Quilt - March 2011, New York City.

CT Bella Classics 1 - Infinite Variety

This five-day exhibit sharing the quilts of Joanna S. Rose was spectacular.  Eight-hundred quilts, all in red and white.  Most were made with two solids.  From complex to simple, these quilts all shared an aesthetic that was both modern, and very classic.  Even the most traditional, "old-fashioned" designs felt dynamic because of using just the two colors.

Whether the designs are simply or intricate, two-color quilts are among the most collected antiques.  To add these classics to our own collections, we've created six quilts that will work in every combination of colors.

While we're sharing a variety of color options in the coming months, this is a perfect way to start your own Red & White, or Blue & White, or Yellow & White quilt collection.

CT Bella Classics 1 - Teresa

This was beautifully quilted by Teresa Silva of Quilting Is My Bliss.

Every other month through 2022, we'll share the pattern for a new quilt.  This is Bella Classics 1, titled Quintet.

If you'd like to make all six quilts using the same two colors, here is how much yardage you'll need for each quilt.  For each quilt, Color 1 is the Color, and Color 2 is the Background.  (E.g., Color 1 is Pink or Red, Color 2 is the White Background.)

Yardage Requirements:

  • No. 1 - 75" x 75":  Color 1 - 2 ¾ yards / Color 2 - 4 ½ yards.
  • No. 2 - 72" x 72":  Color 1 - 4 ½ yards / Color 2 - 3 ¾ yards.
  • No. 3 - 64" x 72":  Color 1 - 3 ¾ yards / Color 2 - 3 ¼ yards.
  • No. 4 - 70" x 70:  Color 1 - 4 yards / Color 2 - 3 ¼ yards.
  • No. 5 - 72" x 72":  Color 1 - 3 ¼ yards / Color 2 - 4 yards.

Just in case, here is the link to the first pattern - Bella Classics 1 ~ Quintet.

If you're sewing along with us, be sure to share your progress with - #modabellaclassics and #modabellasolids.

So are you going to create a collection of six quilts made with the same two colors?  Or are you going to mix it up with each quilt?

We'll be back in April with the Bella Classics 2.
